Life Together
MICHAEL & REBECCA
CREATORS, YOUARECOLLECTIVE.CA

They're sharing raw, personal mental health experience and stories to shed light on the realities of living with mental illness and breaking down stereotypes to keep the conversation going. Supporting someone with mental illness can be challenging, but they hit the trifecta when they were both diagnosed with mental illnesses and started living and working together. They'll be sharing about how they balance home-life, work-life, and their love-life TOGETHER by having an authentic conversation LIVE. Including the highest highs and the lowest lows. Plus they'll be sharing their favourite resources, tools, and strategies they use daily to manage their mental well-being.

When Rebecca and Michael started opening up to each other more and more about their mental health, they began to realize the gaps and challenges many of us face when trying to access proper care, support, and information when it comes to mental health and illness. After a lot of personal growth through a challenging period in her mental health, Rebecca began to share her story publicly and started to hear and see stories of people going through similar challenges. Rebecca and Michael set to work using apparel and their voices to create You Are Collective, a mental health awareness social enterprise to break down the stigma and empower people on their journeys.

Keeping My Reality Under Wraps: Exposing My Bipolar Journey
JULIE KRAFT
AUTHOR & MENTAL HEALTH ADVOCATE
SUNDAY, JUNE 28TH
1:45 PM
Join author and mental health advocate Julie Kraft as she shares her unfiltered bipolar journey- the ups, downs, and everything in between. She gives a glimpse of her life from childhood, through her anxious teen years, to hitting rock bottom as a frustrated wife and mom. Julie then discusses her initial reaction to her bipolar II diagnosis and the powerful role that stigma has played in her healing journey. Did it hinder or help her in coming forward with her story? What was the driving force behind her advocacy efforts and does she regret baring her soul to the world? Julie answers all of these questions and many more, ultimately showing how her bipolar has gone from feeling like a ‘death sentence’ to being a source of strength and purpose. It is Julie’s greatest hope that she will offer insight, shatter stigma, and offer help to those walking a similar path.

Julie Kraft is a Canadian author, artist, and mental health advocate devoted to spreading awareness and shattering stigma. In the Spring of 2010 she received an official diagnosis of bipolar II disorder. In the decade since, Julie has come to a place of fully embracing her bipolar mind- she credits it with allowing her to live a vibrant and full life. She is thrilled to have published her memoir, The Other Side of Me, as well as a children's book, Tilda Whirl- both in an effort to start the conversation on mental health at all ages! She has also contributed to publications for Psych Central, Psycom, and BP Hope magazine.
